W20 Works by Women
Wed 10th April - 11:00am to 12:00 noon
Merchiston Workshops - Workshop Space
Sponsored by The Bristol & West of England Branch of The Clarsach Society
An informal talk/demonstration on works written by women from various time periods and cultures to inspire and encourage you to add more female composers to your repertoire and programmes. Using recordings, live performance, audio/visual presentation and handouts, Karen will introduce you to the music of female composers from the past who deserve to be heard today. If you’d like to bring your harp, we will end by playing Dame Ethel Smyth’s Suffragette anthem, The March of the Women arranged by Karen to celebrate 100 years of votes for women. (Music available at the Festival.)
