T16 Accompanying instruments & arranging trad tunes

5-days from Sat 6th to Wed 10th April - 9:00am

Merchiston Courses - Classroom Space

This workshop will focus on developing your skills in arranging and accompanying other instruments. The modes used in Scottish music will be discussed, along with some approaches to accompaniment and ideas for playing in sessions by improvising chord patterns. Ideas on how to select tunes from non-harp instrumental collections, and arrange and perform them will also be examined, including suggestions for creative arrangements - intros, bridges and "outros"!
