C10 Gillian Fleetwood & Ensemble / Lily Neill / The Iain Macleòid Young Composer Award Winner 2019

Merchiston Concerts - Memorial Hall

Gillian Fleetwood & Ensemble - With Time as our Guide
Inspired by the 206 year old Erard Grecian harp kept in Hospitalfield House, Arbroath, and the beautiful house itself, this suite is an optimistic celebration of the enduring hope that we are granted by music, art and nature.  This suite reminds us that in taking time to rebuild, we should consider our surroundings and appreciate what we have.

Gillian Fleetwood – Erard Harp, Tim Lane - percussion/trombone, Susan Appelbe and Laura Jane Wilkie – strings, Cameron Maxwell - bass/samples/trombone.

There will be a backdrop of photography by Martin John Henry.

Lily Neill
Lily Neill makes her Edinburgh debut performing a programme of original compositions and repertoire from a range of styles — from tangos and ragtime to early music and folk.  Lily’s signature sound has captivated listeners with its synthesis of “perfect technique and unbridled emotion” (Frankenpost).  Irish Music Magazine recognized Lily as part of the new “Harp revolution,” praising her “…musical and artistic freedom which is boundless in its possibility and contagious in its energy and passion.”
